I noticed that my Yaesu FT-60E handheld could not open any repeaters. I could listen and transmit to a close transceiver, but all the repeaters in my area seemed unreachable. I tried an external antenna with no luck. Code encoding worked fine. I took the radio to the club and hooked it up to a power meter, to find out that pressing PTT would not cause the slightest movement of the needle. Yesterday, I opened it up (instructions here) and faced a blown up final amplifier (note the big, black chip under the screen, on the left). In the photo, you can also see the custom screwdriver I had to make, to unscrew the two ring nuts.
